Dr Larry Alder is the Chief Operating Officer at OneWeb. He joined OneWeb in Feb 2017 focusing on Product and User terminals and became COO in 2019. His organizational responsibilities include the technical and operational aspects of the company.
Dr Alder was a member US Department of Congress’s Spectrum Management AdvisoryCommittee (CSMAC) from 2011-2018 serving as Co-Chair the last four years.
Prior to OneWeb, Dr Alder was Director of Access Strategy at Google from 2005-2016 where was responsible for a number of product, policy, and strategic investment activitiespromoting Internet access. Dr Alder started and led Google’s Project Link which brings a shared fiber infrastructure networks to multiple countries in Africa and has become anindependent company CSquared. He was a leader in Google’s project to bring Wi-Fi to theIndia rail stations. Dr Alder led Google’s initial investment in O3b Networks, a global satellite service provider, and served on the board until its sale to SES in 2016. Prior to joining Google, Dr Alder spent 10 years at ArrayComm an early pioneering company in building MIMO wireless systems, where he served as vice president of technology development.
Dr Alder holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Stanford University and Bachelor’sdegree in Engineering from UCLA.
